WELCOME!

ODU Young Democrats are young people ready to support the Democratic Party and its ideals. The mission of our group is to provide a forum for young people to learn and grow in Democratic politics, support and elect Democratic candidates in local, state, and federal elections, to widen and increase the interest and knowledge of young people in Government and politics, and help develop young leaders within the ODU community and Democratic Party as a whole. We create events, plan trips, educate and promote the Democratic Party on ODU's campus, advocate on behalf of Democratic issues to elected officials, represent concerns and make suggestions to ODU and its Student Government, and assist ODU with nonpartisan lobbying efforts.

The 2008 election polarized many Democrats with difficult choices, but 2009 brought a new hope in ODU Young Democrats. We have been working hard ever since, holding rallies, debates, resume workshops and more. In 2011, we were honored with Virginia Young Democrats' Up and Coming Club of the Year Award, and we plan to keep it up! Join ODU YDs to be a part of the progress today! There's a reason why our mascot's called "Big Blue"!!!
