What this Club is for
Community Service
Through service and volunteering we not only get to know others in our community better, we strengthen the bonds which make our community stronger.
A Public Forum for Free Speech
We create opportunity for people to come together to express their thoughts and opinions and listen to what others have to say. This is crucial in a time where it is considered unpatriotic and unAmerican to express your views if they differ from the government's position.
To Encourage People to become involved in the Political Process
It can not be emphasized enough that participating in politics is easier and
simpler than most people imagine. Most of the time, it is as short as writing
a letter or an email to your local representative to let him or her know how
you want them to vote on a particular issue.
What this Club is
not for
To be a Propaganda Device for the Democratic Party
We will try to provide objective information that is from independent and/or
third-party sources. If the President or a representative does not faithfully
serve the people, it does not matter whether he is a Democrat or Republican,
we will not restrain ourselves from criticizing his or her actions.
How This Club Works
This Club and You
Other than doing the usual club stuff like holding meetings & events, we made this club extremely flexible to benefit you.
If you have a cause you are inspired by or an idea you want to implement, whether it be around a progressive political, social, or environmental issue, or you have a concrete event or program you want to put together, then we are looking for leaders like you.
Questions or Doubts you may have
"I am not a Democrat"
You don't necessarily have to be a Democrat to join and benefit from this club. We have members who identify themselves as Greens and Independents who are frustrated with the current situation with our government and political leaders.
"Who are you people?"
We are just regular people who want to make a difference through politics. Believe it or not, only a few of us are actually political science majors.
"I don't know anything about politics."
Then this club is for you. Neither did we when we started it. You will get a broad base of knowledge just through browsing this site.
"I don't have enough time for this club."
For most of our members this club takes no more than half an hour out of their week, if that. You determine the degree to how much you want to participate.
It can be as little as keeping yourself updated on what's happening by visiting the site, coming to meetings, to sitting at the Democrats table during activity hour once a month or semester, or downloading and posting flyers for a meeting or an event.
